What is StudentHousing101?

StudentHousing101 is a fully-featured housing portal. It’s powered by the same state-of-the-art website technology we created for ThePropertyManager.com.au and is designed specifically to assist the off-campus housing departments within Australian universities to better manage their vacancies.

Protecting the safety and welfare of students

We provide StudentHousing101 as a free service to help tertiary student’s better access safe, clean, affordable housing. We therefore consider the welfare of your students our first priority. We have taken the following steps to help ensure the safety of your students:

We provide students with a repository of helpful articles explaining a tenant’s rights and responsibilities respective of state legislation.

Phone numbers of appropriate government, tenant and legal bodies are provided.

Any properties listed on StudentHousing101 by third parties display a statement clarifying that they are from the general public and not screened by or affiliated with the university.

In order to list on our network, users must be registered with us and their email addresses are verified.

Users must first read and accept our legally binding terms and conditions before their listing will be accepted.

Your housing department has moderation control on your portal to ensure the quality of your listings.

Each StudentHousing101 portal has it’s own campus-specific web-address (eg: www.StudentHousing101.com.au/usq). It is co-branded to your campus, and shows properties in close proximity to your campus on the front-page. It includes a powerful proximity search system and returns detailed property listings as you would expect to find on any national property portal.

It automatically updates it's property database every 30 minutes, automatically resizes photographs & thumbnails, automatically displays street maps and aerial photographs and allows users to self-manage their own property details in real-time.

We provide the StudentHousing101 system to the students and staff of tertiary institutes absolutely free.

• There are no ongoing costs;
• There are no hosting or domain costs;
• There are no hardware costs;
• There is no minimum terms
  or lock-in contracts imposed on your campus;
• There are no costs for students & faculty
  to list their own accommodation;

We even provide a toll-free helpdesk to your site users, accessible 7 days a week from anywhere in Australia.

The only money we charge is a small listing fee ^{($35 + gst)} to non-campus lessors (ie: lessors who are not students or faculty at the uni). This qualifies lessors as seriously committed to boarding students so as to avoid wasting your department’s time and resources. It also helps us to recover the costs incurred for providing the service and keeps it free for students. We also donate a portion of such fees back to your student guild in quarterly installments to finance any worthy ventures your guild wishes to pursue.
